Spectral Imaging Simulations for Planetary Surface Exploration: Preparing for PanCam on the ExoMars 2020 Rosalind Franklin Rover.Funded by a UK Space Agency Aurora Studentship, Supervised by Prof. Andrew Coates. As part of the PanCam Science team, my thesis focuses on simulating the response of the 3 camera system, and predicting the signals and noise sources that will be encountered when the camera is in operation on the ExoMars rover on the surface of Mars. This has involved the development of image simulation software, modelling the optical and electrical response of the camera components, combined with hyperspectral physically realistic rendering packages. In complement to this, I am involved in the development of the image processing software packages, and the testing of these during rover mission operations trials.
