Green Recovery towards a Sustainable Economy, LUNAR is 8th DLSMUN’s Case Study Competition that aims to bring delegates together to foster creative and sustainable solutions for real-world problems. LUNAR’s theme focuses on the economy’s road to postpandemic recovery through sustainable methods. For its pioneer year, the delegates will work in groups to analyze the case given by our partner, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to build their ideas together, and present their proposal to a panel of judges and participants all over the world.

Conducted industry research for British Standards Institution (BSI), London. Identified and analysed financial performance of ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 14001 EMS certified organisations in order to guide organisations in making decisions on certification and other financial opportunities. Developed a case study demonstrating increase in return on sales (ROS) of the certified companies; a QMS Return on Investment (ROI) tool software; ‘Read me’ notes, guides, presentations and videos and trained marketing team and BSI associate consultants.Developed a simple, user friendly excel based matrix for carbon emissions calculations for BSI consultants and auditors those having intensive travel requirements. The calculator assisted the users to reduce carbon emission activities, contributing towards the BSI carbon neutral plan.

Working as Sustainable Procurement Assessor for the Mayor of London Green Procurement Code (GPC) Award programme (2009), consulted participators of the programme and won audit opportunities. Audited progress of the participating organisations and assessed their performance against flexible framework of sustainable procurement assisted them in developing strategies for sustainable procurement that included strategic development of sustainable procurement strategies and policies, training for buyers, risk management, and communication with suppliers in line with flexible framework for sustainable procurement. The focus of GPC assessment included energy saving products:• Water saving products• Sustainable natural products• Non-polluting products• Recycled content products• Other environmental impacts of procurement.Thus, contributed towards the development of the organisations’ sustainable procurement objectives and simultaneously, contributed towards success of the Mayor of London Green Procurement programme. Clients included:o Cancer Research UK (Winner of Gold level)o Skanska Infrastructure (Winner of Silver level)o London Borough of Newham (Winner of Silver level)o London Borough of Lambeth (Winner of Silver level)o London Borough of Bexley (Winner of Bronze level)

Carried out households’ surveys to understand waste practices as well as educate users about the kerbside collection schemes of recyclable material. Contributed towards 40% of increase in kerbside collection recycling rates and decreased contamination rates in four London Boroughs. Also carried out waste recycling canvassing for the Cheltenham Centre for Change for the Cheltenham council in April - June 2006.

Collected and analysed data of a number of activities carried out by local residents in three town centres. Reported the findings on GIS MapInfo and excel, contributing towards the research for sustainable town centres’ policies for the University College London, London.
