Ricardo Cantú Calderón Email and Phone Number
I believe there is a better way to help governments do what they do. I believe there is a reachable opportunity with current technology and information that would help us shape policies that can improve our welfare now and in the future. My professional 10-year-old-career (dissertation defense: November 2016) has been focused on analyzing and explaining to the “general public” and students the Mexican fiscal system as a whole (see: http://www.ciep.mx), as a unified concept, that takes the heart of GA's "government's budget constraint": in the long run, the budget must be balanced. As a self-taught-coding-enthusiast economist, this principle lead me into building a free-online fiscal simulator (see: http://simuladorfiscal.ciep.mx): a interactive software that uses administrative data, household surveys, the system of national accounts (SNA), demographic projections, among many others, and evaluates how the Mexican fiscal systems redistribute resources among the people and how sustainable it is. As an economist, knowing how to code changed my perspective of the economy itself.
