I use materials informatics methods to help my team understand the additive manufacturing process. My advisor is Dr. Stephen Niezgoda.

My tasks varied from using my mathematics, programming, and engineering background to extract value from highly unstructured AM data payloads to developing applications for my team's software, HyperThought.

Implemented the Eshelby inclusion model as a MATLAB subroutine to predict the formation of compound martensite twins in Nickel-Titanium-Halfnium shape memory alloy system.Resulting models were proposed as computational framework for SMA alloy design: Blocher, Richard. Created image analysis algorithm to automatically detect atoms from TEM image, find each atom’s center, and find basic descriptive statistics of each atom within a user-prescribed radius. Algorithm was optimized for batch processing, and cut analysis time of images down to seconds. Center coordinates were then to be sent to csv files in preparation for Molecular Dynamics simulations.
