  • Arm
    Graduate Software Engineer, Developer Relations
    Arm Sep 2014 - Oct 2015
    Cambridge, Cambs, Gb
As a graduate I undertook a number of rotations within ARM to broaden my knowledge of the company and different technologies. These rotations are listed as "projects" under this job role further down my profile. During my time at ARM I was awarded my first patent, US10140736, GPU acceleration of the rasterization of vector graphics, an approach subsequently adopted by Skia and incorporated into the Chromium project.I worked in a tight knit team acting as a technical public face of ARM's Media Processing Division to support partners as well as individual developers; offering troubleshooting and guidance to both direct requests and those using the ARM connected community ARM Mali Graphics groups. My contributions to the community were publicly recognized, with my profile listed as a featured user on the connected community home page. I assisted with a wide variety of issues; debugging software such as game engines (often without direct access to source code), optimization and assistance with CPU code as well as OpenGLES shaders for a wide array of uses including gaming, and working on optimization of Compute use-cases such as OpenCL and renderscript running on ARM Mali based platforms. I worked closely with the BSP (Board Support Package) team working on both Linux and Android doing development for internal and external releases, out of box testing and testing feature sets for releases. I innovated to create new, and improve existing, internal systems and tools, as well as research and development new ways of doing things. I attended public expos and conventions, showcasing ARM technology and interacting with the public and media. In doing my job, I worked with a range of languages and technologies such as Python, C/C++, Java, OpenGLES, OpenCL and Renderscript not to mention others used in research and development and implementation of innovation projects.
