I have been actively involved in the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations since 2003, when I was selected to serve as the Connecticut state delegate to NCSEA. After serving for 12 years as CT Delegate and on the NCSEA Advocacy Committee, including terms as a subcommitee chair and committee chair, I was nominated for a position of the Board of Directors of NCSEA, to which I was elevated in October of 2018. I remain an active participant in the NCSEA Communications Committee.

I was co-chair of the Advocacy Committee of the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA), the foremost national professional organization for structural engineers who specialize in building design, and also served as Chairman of the subcommittee of this group that focuses on Clients and Prospects. Our committee was dedicated to elevating the professional standing of structural engineers across the country, with subcommittees that focus on specific target markets: clients and prospects; general public and media; students and educators; and government regulators. The Advocacy Committee has been absorbed into the Communications Committee, in which I remain active.

Hartford, Connecticut

Freeman Companies is a site/civil engineering and surveying firm that also offers geotechnical and environmental engineering and construction engineering and inspection. During my tenure there, I had the pleasure to work with and get to know a wonderful group of professionals across all these disciplines, while heading up the firm's structural department.Work included pre-construction program management for the DoNo Hartford development project, featuring the recently completed AA Hartford Yard Goats stadium. I also participated in two photovoltaic installations at landfills and performed a variety of structural engineering assignments for retail, utility and flood control structures.

In 2012, I returned to my roots in design of building structures by joining a terrific group of structural and architectural engineers at DeStefano & Chamberlain in Fairfield, CT. My work included a variety of interesting and challenging projects, such as a new Math & Computer Science facility at Choate Rosemary Hall, reviews of residential and commercial structures for installation of photovoltaic panels, several new high-end residences and review and repair of a number of concrete parking structures.

AI is a 100-person consulting engineering firm in Middletown, CT with expertise in civil/site design, bridge/roadway design, facility engineering, including structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, construction engineering and inspection, construction management, contract administration and surveying. AI also has regional offices in New York City, Jersey City, NJ, Cranston, RI, Boston, MA and Richmond, VA. Clients include many state transportation and airport/transit agencies, railroads, utility companies, municipal and federal government agencies, as well as many private clients. My role was to work with our CEO and VP's to manage operations of the entire firm, in addition to project and design responsibility for structural engineering in support of facilities and utility projects.
