Founder4K For Cancer Aug 2001 - Jul 2009Motivated by the loss of my dad to cancer, I founded 4K for Cancer, a non-profit that organized endurance athletic events supporting young adults with cancer. Our marquee event was a summer-long, cross-country bicycle trek ridden by groups of college students. I organized and rode the inaugural trek as a college student in 2002, and continued to lead the organization for 8 years thereafter. 4K for Cancer shut down in 2024 after operating for over 20 years. Since its inception, 4K raised $8M to provide essential resources to young adults with cancer including fertility preservation, housing during treatment, and various social services as they navigated their diagnoses and treatments. 2,400 college students from 200 colleges dedicated their summers to cycling across the country, riding over 3 million miles. Their dedication and passion made a difference in the lives of many.
