The Federation of Students (now the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association) is a $40-million non-profit that exists to empower and serve over 34 000 undergraduate students at the University of Waterloo through the provision of support services, and through advocacy to the University, to the Region of Waterloo, and to the provincial and federal governments.Highlights:- overhauled the Federation's electoral, allegations, and appeals system- led several successful campaigns to bolster student engagement, resulting in a record voter turnout during the 2019 Federation of Students General Election- oversaw the advancement or completion of 75% of goals on the Federation of Students’ long-range strategic plan- worked with students and University administration to implement additional mental health supports that were not only holistic, evidence-based, and focused on upstream prevention, but were sensitive to the spectrum of identities, cultures, and accessibility needs- initiated the procurement process for an undergraduate Legal Protection Service, a multimillion-dollar prepaid legal retainer agreement, and a 24/7 student mental health and wellness helplineMajor Responsibilities:- general oversight and administration of all governance affairs and operations of the Federation of Students, including policy research, development, and implementation- ensure the association's adherence to its long-range strategic plan- representing the undergraduate student body on the University Senate, Board of Governors, and on over 25 University decision-making bodies- Served as a point-of-contact for any undergraduate requiring assistance in the navigation of University by-laws, regulations, and processes
