Rob Land joined JetBlue in 1998 as a founding crewmember and is now the company’s longest tenured employee, serving as Head of Government Affairs and Associate General Counsel. He is responsible for JetBlue’s relations with the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. government as well as state and local governing bodies and international government relations. Rob also oversees airport affairs, manages regulatory matters, international policy and the aircraft delivery team. He stood up JetBlue's Sustainability organization and is a member of JetBlue’s senior leadership team and a Board Member of its PAC, the JetBlue Airways Corporation Crewmember Good Government Fund. Prior to joining JetBlue, Rob worked in the Office of the Secretary of Transportation as a special assistant, as Chief of Staff at the Federal Railroad Administration, and on the White House staff for Vice President Gore. Before his government service, Rob was an attorney at Proskauer Rose. Rob also served as Legislative Consultant to President Clinton’s blue ribbon panel, The National Commission to Ensure a Strong Competitive Airline Industry. Rob earned a B.A. with honors from Skidmore College and a J.D. from the Washington College of Law at The American University. He is a member of the New York, District of Columbia, and United States Supreme Court bars. Rob serves on the Advisory Board of SolarWinds (NYSE: SWI), is a current Board Member of the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City NY, a past Board Member for Ford’s Theatre in Washington D.C. and The Musical Theatre Center of Rockville MD, and former Board President of the Aero Club of Washington. He is also Vice Chair of the International Air Transport Association’s Industry Affairs Advisory Council, and a member of the Consumer Issues Working Group, and has been named an Honorary Commander & Ambassador for the 89th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Andrews.

CurrentRob was hired as a member of JetBlue’s founding team and serves as JetBlue’s principal liaison on policy for all aspects of international, federal, state, and local government affairs. Since 1998 he has served as principal advisor to all three JetBlue CEOs on government relation policy matters, and he provides oversight for airport relationships and legal advisory to sales and marketing teams.Rob’s earliest notable accomplishments included building the Government Affairs division, driving efforts to acquire JetBlue’s initial DOT and FAA requirements to launch flight operations, and leading negotiations to secure JetBlue’s initial slots at JFK. More recently, Rob was responsible for launching JetBlue’s Sustainability organization and set the program’s goals and roadmaps, and he continues to work closely with the ESG team on initiatives related to sustainable aviation fuels and climate change. He is also a contributor to JetBlue’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.He was also the team leader for all regulatory policy matters during JetBlue’s successful 2002 IPO and has spearheaded response to proposed legislative change, with notable success in lobbying for an increase in the mandatory pilot retirement age and beating back competitor efforts to eliminate the DOT Open Skies policy. In 2020 Rob represented JetBlue in efforts to influence Congress to pass the CARES Act that provided payroll support and loans to support airlines during the Covid pandemic.
