Raquel Castro Madureira was born in Aveiro in 1972, she is married, and has three children. She is currently a guest assistant professor in Information Systems at the University of Aveiro (UA), and a researcher in smart city and sustainability at GovCopp. She is the ALUMNI representative for Electronics, Telecommunications, and Informatics at the University of Aveiro. From 2019 to 2022, she served as the district delegate of the Order of Engineers (OE) in Aveiro. She is the spokesperson for the Citizenship Forum of the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) and a trainer at National Instituto for Adult Traiining, IEFP. She volunteers at pró life non governmental, ADAv and was a Catholic catechist at the Vera-Cruz Parish in Aveiro in the Adults' Confirmation.She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UA, with a bachelor's and master's degree (pre-Bologna) in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering in 1995 and 1998, respectively. She is a senior member and telecommunications specialist at OE.In 1995, she worked at the Telecommunications Institute. In 1998, she joined Philips Portuguesa as a Product Engineer and Project Leader and later became part of Mainroad Telecommunications -> OPTIMIUS as the coordinator of the radio access engineering team.From 2008 to 2013, she taught Computer Tools at the University of Aveiro and was a founding partner and manager of the telecommunications consulting company, Radio Network Services and Systems, RN2S, Lda, and co-creator of the brand ESCUTAR PORTUGAL a georeferenced audio guides.During the 2013-2017 term, she was an elected municipal official as Executive Councilor at the Aveiro City Council, with responsibilities including Environment and Quality; Youth, Seniors, and Entrepreneurship; and Housing. She represented Aveiro on the board of the Carvoeiro Municipal Association, the Central Region Informatics Association (AIRC), chaired the strategic council of Reserva S.Jacinto, served on the restricted committee of CPCJ, and was on the board of directors of ERSUC. She ran as a candidate for the European Parliament in May 2019.She has published some scientific articles and co-authored some book chapters. She has been a guest speaker at OE, ARCTEL, IEFP, Ignite Portugal, and Girls Lean In Portugal.
