Mosaic (NYSE: MOS) is a Fortune 500 company and the largest producer of potash and phosphate fertilizers in the US. In my current role I serve in Mosaic’s first digital deployment organization dedicated to increasing automation and leveraging technology across Mosaic. Project highlights:• Collaborated with world class consultants to design an Integrated Operations Center as a pilot program. The IOC will enable remote operations of facilities with an open workspace for different functional areas of an operation.• Executed Machine Learning projects to improve insights, which included models for predicting turbine power generation, detecting impurities, and the use of RapidMiner.• Led a pilot project to design a fully-automated plant among, the most advanced plants of its kind in the world.During this time I was also selected to Mosaic’s Emerging Leaders Program in a ten-employee cohort with an assigned C-suite mentor during a six-month personalized program.

In 2018 I was promoted to a new three-member Scrum team of subject matter experts assembled to focus on building technical capabilities and automation of process controls projects across the business unit. While in this role we executed 65 projects across several plants in two years that are projected to net $40MM/yr in production value, and our success led to the adoption of Agile and Scrum processes within multiple business units and inspired the formation of a new digital deployment organization. Project highlights:• Developed and implemented novel controls solutions that included first of their kind (e.g. turnkey solutions providing wholistic plant KPI control, automated start-up/shut-down sequencing). Work included programming of PID controllers, algorithm development, and regressions. • Led development of novel Asset Framework structures for project analysis and KPI tracking.

As an Operations Engineer in the Dry Products group I covered both commodity and specialty product plants, tasked with improving Asset Utilization (AU), reducing costs per ton, maintaining environmental stewardship, and ensuring the operational safety of a cross discipline team.Project highlights:• Led a cross functional team to increase OEE on two flagship premium product units. Exceeded production rate goals by over 30% breaking multiple facility and company records.• Launched first of its kind data-backed operational parameters program across all six operating units.• Led multiple automation projects reducing critical KPI deviations >80%. Developed a control philosophy for a specific type of plant that became the company standard. • Spearheaded a process chemical usage reduction initiative that led to >$1MM/YR savings.• Identified and solved multiple risk reduction program projects leading to best-ever safety performance.• Drove multiple data collection and reporting efforts that included automation of daily reports to reduce repetitive work and increase accuracy of data. Data efforts enabled expansion of advanced data analytics and machine learning efforts.

Projects highlights in this role included:• Design and implementation of a large $3MM New Wales Water Reuse system to reduce freshwater usage and maintain environmental consent decree compliance.• Installation of $1MM ammonia chiller to improve quality and reduce production loss.• Led front-end design team for the Water Loss Incident which included development of a comprehensive water balance and multi-stage treatment system (the largest temporary water treatment unit in the world).I also provided support during multiple successful initial start-ups of new flagship premium product lines. During this time I was selected for Mosaic's 'Blue Chips' program that included pre-management track classes and a team project.

As a Production Supervisor I oversaw an eight-member operator team that exceeded the department's cost/ton production stretch goal for 2013, while maintaining environmental compliance and personnel safety. Projects included design and implementation of an area lighting tracking system. I also served as an Emergency Response Team Incident Commander.

In my first role with Mosaic I was responsible for monitoring quality and plant operational parameters and assisted operations teams in advanced troubleshooting. Project successes included launch of a Trucking Report that optimized shipments and design of a facility “plot map” to facilitate safer job planning and reduce risk in production environment.
