Saga Marine LLC is a partner-owned competitive sailing team and owner/operator of SV Saga, a Beneteau First 40. My role as non-managing partner, race team manager, skipper/tactician and coach is to develop volunteer amateur sailing enthusiasts into a cohesive race-winning team. This includes recruiting both experienced and new sailors, assigning responsibilities on the boat, coaching on the duties of each position and coordination between different positions, arranging race schedules, securing a crew of up to 10 sailors for each race, arranging logistics for each race and directing the setup of the boat and sails. On the water, I can perform any position on the boat which requires significant self-learning, taking professional coaching/training classes, and combining my 9 years of sailing experience on other boats. My primary positions of skipper or tactician are both decision-making roles that requires consideration of crew safety, crew ability, safety of the boat, and coordinating maneuvers for the best possible position for winning races. Post-race I am responsible for analyzing race performance data and communicating to the team our strengths and areas of improvement for the next race, or coordinating changes needed in the rigging of the boat. We race in Long Beach, Newport Beach and Dana Point California in in-shore random leg, windward/leeward and nearshore/offshore races such as Around Catalina, all organized by various local yacht clubs.

The Senior Resident Assistant is responsible for community development of a building of 73 students living on campus. Managing a staff of 3, the SRA organizes community-building events, manages disputes between staff and students, facilitates student access to resources at the residence and on campus and monitors the wellbeing of the building and its inhabitants.
