After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in May 2015 I began my engineering career at ThermaDynamics Rail LLC (TDR) working as a mechanical engineer. TDR provided a hands-on environment in a fast paced R&D industry which allowed me to quickly gain experience outside of my academic background. As an engineer at TDR I have developed both analytical capabilities and hands-on practical experience. CAD programs such as SolidWorks are utilized for part design, assembly development, and drawing production for manufacturing. Many of the components used in TDR's systems are manufactured in-house which provides an opportunity to work closely with machinists and technicians in developing designs that are able to be fabricated. Apart from mechanical design, I have also gained experienced in analytical design and testing. Components of power generation cycles such as shell-tube heat exchangers, high speed generators (30,000 RPM+), and axial steam turbines are designed, manufactured, and tested all in house. This unique experience of being able to see a design through all stages of development has benefited me greatly in my experience as an engineer. Hands on testing was completed using in-house test rigs run by PLCs and outfitted with sensors and data acquisition systems. I have experience in using software such as LabView and MATLAB to monitor and post-process data.
