The National Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture is the only Mexican fisheries and aquaculture research institution with national coverage in permanent contact with the fisheries and aquaculture sector, its development and administration problems. The work carried out as part of the principle of responsible fishing, provides the fisheries and aquaculture authority with solid scientific bases, with reliable data to preserve order and develop fisheries and contribute to the care of biodiversity, ecosystems and habitat water.

INAPESCA assisted Naturalia in aquaculture and community projects.A pivotal partnership with Dr. Dawrin Pech Puch, as the chief scientific advisor. Our joint efforts focused on bioprospecting genetic resources, addressing challenges like SCTLD & COVID.Initiatives like #RestoreCoral in 2017, SEMARNAT's "Viaja, Disfruta y Respeta" in 2018, and the current SOS Mares 2024 campaign showcased our commitment. Our publications with CONANP, OECD, and INAPESCA further solidified our impact.Contributing to Mexico's ocean agenda, we played a crucial role in MORENA's electoral commitments for the Oceans of Mexico in 2018, engaged with the Ocean Panel in 2021, influenced the National Policy for Seas and Coasts update in 2023, and actively participated in the United Nations' Decade of Ocean Science Action Plan.Our representation at national and international forums like the United Nations General Assembly, COP 25 in Madrid, and EarthX events highlighted our dedication.
