Developer for the Service Focal Point Repair and Verify (SFP/RV) software component of the IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC). The HMC hardware appliance is used for remote administration and management of IBM pSeries servers. The HMC SFP/RV software component provides graphical guided repair of server hardware components known as Field Replaceable Units (FRUs).• Drove development of a RESTful web service prototype for the HMC SFP Serviceable Event Manager (SEM) project. The SEM addresses Chinese banking industry restrictions, regarding direct third party internet access to potentially sensitive account information, by imposing a review, data filtering, and authorization process on top of the currently automated SFP serviceable event call home feature. The SEM REST service component will utilize the JAXB and JAX-RS frameworks. The SEM REST client component will utilize the Vaadin web application framework. Both SEM components will be deployed on WASCE.• Designed and implemented a common HMC SFP/RV guided FSP repair flow Java utility library, by analyzing the commonalities in FSP repair flows across multiple P7 and P8 server platforms, and then resolving redundant and inconsistent legacy behavior.• Designed and implemented a feature to add HMC SFP/RV support for the P7 Firebird+ Blade System.• Designed and implemented a FRU configuration file IBM pSeries Information Center callout discrepancy checker tool, written in Perl, using the XML::Simple module.• Implemented a series of large scale HMC SFP/RV refactoring initiative features, one of which involved dissecting an undocumented, and convoluted, FRU persistence load method that had evolved to 1600+ lines in length. Refactored the original into a simplified public load method, with a set of 20+ documented and maintainable private supporting methods.

Developer for the Tivoli CCMDB Change Process Management Product (CPMP) component. The CCMDB web application, built on the IBM Maximo development framework and deployed on WebSphere Application Server, facilitates IT change and configuration management based on the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process specification. The CPMP component allows for the association of configuration items (CIs) with change requests, and with change work orders which contain change activities and tasks. It also supports change implementation scheduling, and a change window calendar view with conflict checking. • Prioritized and executed the systematic resolution of several must-fix defects accumulated from previous CPMP releases.• Implemented Ant-based build infrastructure modifications for various CPMP product content and packaging changes.• Implemented various IBM Process Solution Installer (PSI) modifications and updates to the CPMP installation component.

Developer for the Tivoli Change and Configuration Management Database (CCMDB) Security component. The CCMDB web application, built on the IBM Maximo development framework and deployed on WebSphere Application Server, facilitates IT change and configuration management based on the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process specification. The security component uses a WAS VMM Federated TDS user and group repository for storage and authentication of Maximo users. Authentication is done from Maximo using the WAS VMM Client API. Authorization is done internally in Maximo, based on group membership, and associated access controls. Maximo user and group management is done in the TDS directory, and then entries are synchronized to the Maximo repository with a Maximo synchronization crontask implemented using the WAS VMM Client API.• Promoted customer base expansion by implementing a Maximo to CCMDB user and group repository migration tool, in Java, designed to attract legacy Maximo users to the more current CCMDB version of the product.• Improved the CCMDB development knowledge base by researching and authoring a technical tutorial on configuration of a WAS VMM SSL connection to a TDS federated repository, used for reference by the test and customer support teams.• Resolved a critical CCMDB Interim Fix defect, resulting from the discontinued support of a legacy query API in the TADDM client SDK, discovered only a week before the scheduled availability of both products. Additionally, exposed and resolved a problem with missing class definitions in the TADDM client SDK jar file. Both offerings were released on schedule.

Technical development lead responsible for delivering the IBM Tivoli Directory Server (TDS) White Pages web application, a supplemental personnel directory offering, deployed on WebSphere Application Server, designed to help capture the small to medium business customer market by promoting the LDAP directory product as more than just a security middleware user and group repository. • Reduced development costs and retained complete control of the development process, with limited resources, by discovering and leveraging an unsuccessfully marketed WebSphere telephone directory web application, in lieu of contracting a totally new solution from a non-IBM source.• Deconstructed the WebSphere telephone directory web application, analyzed the underlying J2EE technologies, and designed the additions and modifications necessary for consistency with the White Pages first release architectural requirements.• Negotiated ownership transfer of the WebSphere telephone directory web application’s source code, build environment, documentation, and automated test case suite to the Tivoli Directory Server development team in Austin.• Organized the division of labor based on available skills, and coordinated a cooperative work effort across a multi-national development team located in Austin, India, and China. • Took developer responsibility for the application's authentication model changes, and assisted the GUI, Installation, and Translation/GVT teams as necessary to resolve defects and meet development deadlines.• Received an IBM achievement award for technical leadership in delivering the White Pages offering on schedule, with a high level of quality, and with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Technical development lead responsible for the Access Control, Data Encryption, and Security Group Management software components of the IBM Tivoli Directory Server (TDS) security subsystem. The LDAP directory product incorporates ICC OpenSSL-based cryptography, GSKit SSL connectivity, and DB2 relational database technologies in its architecture.• Designed and implemented several key security features including: filter-based ACL support, AES and Salted SHA password encryption support, hierarchical nested group support, and a large group performance enhancement.• Drove the offshore India team development effort on additional security features including: Digest-MD5 password encryption, GSKit hardware security module SSL enhancements, GSKit local install component compatibility, directory AES encryption key cloning, and Microsoft Active Directory to TDS directory synchronization.• Successfully teamed with @SEC security consultants to achieve EAL 4 Common Criteria certification, giving TDS competitive market advantage in areas like the pharmaceutical industry, and the government sector.

Accepted developer responsibility for the Tivoli GSO User Management component in addition to the Tivoli GSO Security Management software component. • Initial responsibilities included: product enhancements for various Tivoli GSO 3.6.2 patch releases, and creation of design specification documents for several proposed Tivoli GSO 3.7 enhancements. • Final responsibilities included: Tivoli GSO 3.7 developer responsibility for the above mentioned software components, as well as, the Tivoli GSO Password Strength Server, the Tivoli GSO Cell Endpoint Proxy Daemon, Tivoli GSO Generic Target enhancement, the Tivoli GSO Security Policy CLI, and the Tivoli GSO 3.6.2 to version 3.7 upgrade for both the User Management and Security Management components. • Received brief exposure to Java, Apache, Tomcat, and JSP while researching forms based authentication in the GSO extension to the Web Browser Intelligence product for potential use in the proposed Tivoli Identity Manager GSO endpoint.

Developer for the Tivoli Global Sign-On (GSO) Security Management component, responsible for the complete integration of the original IBM GSO product into the Tivoli Security Management product framework. The DCE-based single sign-on product simplifies management of multiple passwords, by providing automatic authentication to multiple target applications in a given work environment, based on user configured login criteria stored in a DES encrypted centralized database.• Designed and implemented a Tivoli GSO specific CORBA method interface to add inherited behavior object support for the various Tivoli Security Management methods that facilitate distribution and population of security profile object system policy records to and from a Tivoli GSO cell proxy endpoint object.• Designed and implemented a C++ Tivoli GSO security endpoint application that provides inherited Tivoli Security Management security profile object system policy read and write support on the Tivoli GSO cell proxy endpoint.• Designed and implemented Tivoli Security Management extensions to the Tivoli GSO cell proxy client library used by the Tivoli GSO security endpoint application.• Designed and implemented Tivoli Security Management extensions to the Tivoli GSO cell proxy server that process and forward client requests to the Tivoli GSO Security Management database server.• Designed and implemented Tivoli GSO specific DSL extensions to the Tivoli Security Management GUI to add sub-action and dialog support for the product.• Awarded a U.S. patent for password change policy in a single sign-on environment, filed collectively with two other Tivoli GSO team members.

Developer responsible for the IBM Global Sign-On (GSO) Client API and Server Management components of the original, non-Tivoli Security Management integrated, version of the DCE-based single sign-on product.• Designed and implemented the software components on the IBM Windows NT DCE platform, for the IBM GSO Client and on the IBM AIX DCE platform, for the IBM GSO Server.• Ported the IBM GSO Server to both the IBM Windows NT DCE, and the Gradient Windows NT PC DCE platforms.• Ported the IBM GSO Client to the Gradient Windows NT PC DCE, the Gradient Windows 95 PC DCE, and the IBM OS/2 DCE platforms.

Developer responsibility for the DCED and DCECP software components of IBM DCE 2.1 for the OS/2 and AIX operating system platforms. • Responsibilities included: the porting of incompatible portions of the DCED component from AIX to OS/2, implementation of additional product functionality for the DCED component, software defect analysis and subsequent resolution for both components, and providing support to the developers of other DCE components. • Additional responsibilities included: providing screen team support to the PALS software testing organization to ensure the proper routing of defects to the appropriate DCE component, and defect analysis via the OS/2 Kernel Debugger.
