I oversea all technical aspects of the Mine Warfare Program Office, including engineering, future planning, cybersecurity, test and evaluation, environmental compliance, and safety. I am the direct supervisor for a five government civilians and lead a team of over 300 matrixed and contractor personnel overseeing more than 80 mine warfare systems.

I led the resolution of major structural and stability issues discovered during a the transition to the "frigate-lite" configuration.

Oversaw a team of 4 team leads and 30 engineers developing concepts for the Future Surface Combatant Force (FSCF) Capabilities Based Assessment (CBA), and more than five ship classes for the Frigate Requirements Evaluation Team (RET) which led to the Constellation (FFG 62)-class frigates, the Large Surface Combatant (LSC) RET which led the the future Large Surface Combatant, and directing the Common Adaptable Small Ship (CASS) RET which led to the Large and Medium Unmanned Surface Vessels (LUSV and MUSV) along with the second flight of the EPF class (EPF 13 and follow).

Temporarily assigned to lead the engineering department for the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC) Bahrain Detachment overseeing the lifecycle maintenance of 10 patrol boats, 4 mine countermeasures ships, 1 amphibious warfare ship, and voyage repairs of ships deployed to the Middle East, which typically included at least two strike groups. I supervised four docking availabilities, and more than 30 other maintenance availabilites.

I was brought on board to help design, build and test a 28 ft, 8 ton sidewall hovercraft for the TCRAFT program. I designed the bow seals, support structure, and bow instrumentation, as well as building, instrumenting, and testing the craft at the William Morgan Large Cavitation Channel.

I was responsible for over 40 students. I wrote and graded homework, quizzes and projects, as well as proctoring exams. I also held office hours and gave review lectures.

My work was primarily as a "fire fighter" or "snake killer" solving high visibility, quick turn around projects for both the planning organization and the shipyard as a whole. I also led and assisted in a variety of larger products aimed at improving the shipyard.

I am working with fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) composites experiencing failure due to shock loading. Specifically, I am looking at understanding which of the myriad failure criteria for FRP composites are correct for carbon fibre laminates in water. While I am currently looking at simulation work, I would like to work experimentally as well. My research is advised by Prof. Julie Young and funded by ONR.

Doing research on magnetic nanoparticles experiencing Neel heating in an oscillating magnetic field encased in a liquid crystal polymer matrix.

I am performing research related to electrowetting phenomena in micro-pumps, mostly using theory and computer simulation.I am also doing image analysis of our experimental data to produce dynamics information about the pumps.

I helped start a significant research project at Argonne National Labs. The results ultimately got published in Science. My responsibilities beyond researching included helping recruit additional researchers, train new interns, and help supervise the students I was working with.

I performed experimental research relating to diffusion phenomena and later helped lead an undergraduate group, including both selecting and training new undergraduates.
