About Ray Devine

I am an experienced software development manager with over 40 years of experience developing software and managing software development teams. My experiences include multiple platforms, languages, and tools. I have used waterfall, TDD, and Agile-Scrum methods for managing development projects. For managing workloads, I have used Version One and JIRA. I have used these, in combination with Excel and Microsoft Project, to deliver timely reports on status, risks, and work plans to stakeholders and managers. My past experiences include developing software for retail, hospitality, and gaming construction, and medical industries. This has giving me a strong business acumen with the ability to adapt and learn new lines of business. The teams that I have led have been responsible for support and enhancing software applications for both in-house use and for sale as off-the-shelf solutions. These team have included global members. Through good management and collaboration, my teams have been able to improve quality, reduce rework, delivery on time, and gain the confidence of our users and customers. Most of my application development work has dealt with accounting, costing, inventory control applications and interfaces to collect transaction data from POS and outside sources. Part of my support experience has been working with my users to develop reconciliation processes for transactional data. The thing I enjoy most with a software development manager position is the collaboration with stakeholders and the mentoring of team members. I believe that collaboration and sharing a vision is what keeps a team interested and motivated to deliver quality.
