I have been coding for more than 12 years now. Since I wrote my first HTML page I wanted to create the Yahoo of Haiti (one website for everything, good old Yahoo!). Then comes the rise of social media, fintech and e-commerce, again my dream of reshaping Haiti through technology becomes more and more alive. My role models used to Steve Jobs, Marc Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, they are great engineers and creative thinkers. But soon enough, I realized that their model of success was unique to them based on certain privileges, the biggest one is being a tech founder in the U.S. Tech innovators in the U.S has access to a range of financial tools, a large potential user base and an economy who promotes innovation while providing all the pillars for it. Whereas, Haiti has none of the catalysts that a technology company runs on. The country doesn't have a working postal service, less than 2% of the population has a digital bank card, the houses doesn't have an address, the internet has barely penetrate the country while those who has internet only use it for the most basic needs of communication through social media. While some of those problems can be addressed by a working government I came to a conclusion that only one company that is too big to fail can change the technological landscape of Haiti. Let me introduce you to Patnem.Patnem is one supper app for Haitians in Haiti and abroad to pay for any services in Haiti and buy everything they need. Soon Haitians will be able to do more than 20 transactions in one app. Users will be able to pay school tuition, buy bus and event tickets, buy school books, book a doctor's appointment, buy prescription drugs, buy package foods, farm fresh produce, farmers can sell straight to customers, pay rent, pay electric bills, pay for funeral expenses, stream brand new Haitian movies and shows and much more in one app. We will give every homes in Haiti a Patnem Address, which could be used for delivery. We can give every working person in the country a branded Patnem credit card, which they will only be able to use at Patnem. Pay at delivery will help us bridge the gap for those who are not banked yet. Lastly, I believe that building the next big thing in Haiti for Haiti requires a range of talents and I will make it my personal duty to create the next generation of tech engineers in Haiti. We need to start teaching Haitians to code starting in High school, less French and history classes and more coding classes.Making Patnem a national tech powerhouse will be my mission for the next 10 years.Launch: July 1, 2022
