When faced with competitor maneuvering that legislated a 75% drop in CMS reimbursements and tanked US sales at Elekta, Bob worked directly with CMS on remuneration. He recovered nearly $100M. Most importantly, he transformed contention with competitors into partnerships and collaboration. The result was all parties working together on vital legislative initiatives to advance the medical device industry and radiation therapy initiatives.More recently (during the pandemic), Bob facilitated the capture of more than $30M by negotiating an exemption with the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, obtaining support for medical devices vital to national interests. This win led to tens of millions in additional revenue. Earlier in Bob’s career at Medrad (1993 – 2011), his galvanizing leadership led to meteoric growth to $800M and the establishment government affairs as a profit center.
