My role in this family-owned business varies greatly day-to-day. While my engineering expertise and background enable me to manage and run my own projects, I am also involved in the company's business development, marketing strategies, job acquisition, and growth projections. I am also currently supervising a team of staff engineers and interns.

I have worked in the company's Transportation Planning and Traffic Operations groups in the San Jose, Sacramento, and Oakland offices. My experience includes a variety of projects, ranging from large-scale roadway safety signage audits to size-varying traffic impact studies/transportation impact analyses. I have direct experience in determining intersection, roadway segment, and freeway levels of service, performing signal warrant studies, evaluating sight distance and line of sight requirements, and analyzing traffic operations for traffic impact analyses. My experience in developing traffic impact analyses is applicable for both new developments and the expansion of existing developments. I have also managed and performed technical analyses for both of the only two Roadway Safety and Signage Audits completed in the State of California. Additionally, I have experience in designing splice diagrams and general fiber interconnect routing for city-wide ITS coordination. I am experienced in performing tasks of varying nature, including independent field work/site visits, technical memo and report writing, spreadsheet-generated analyses, and programmable software-generated analyses. I currently assist in data collection, technical research, graphics production, and writing technical reports and memorandums to support the transportation engineering and traffic operation processes. As a crucial member of the administrative office at SALAM Weekend School, I was responsible for the record-keeping and organization of enrollment, attendance, and performance data of over 300 students in the school’s Microsoft Access and Excel-based database. In addition to administering the registration process for the school’s population, I prepared and distributed official school correspondence via letter and email. I frequently assisted teachers in the classrooms and attended to any outstanding work that was to be completed at the school. I was responsible for responding to teachers’, students’ and parents’ questions and concerns with diligence on a daily basis. At the end of each academic year, I assisted with the organization of the school’s graduation ceremony by preparing report cards, graduation certificates, and managing the flow of people on the day of the ceremony. Although I've recently resigned from this position, I hope to return to working at SALAM Weekend School as soon as I am able.

As Co-Chairs of the 2nd Annual ITE Student Leadership Summit, Spencer Ord and I worked closely with a dedicated team of students committed to creating a memorable conference. As the president of the Sacramento State ITE Student Chapter at the time, I was extremely proud to have the chapter selected as the host by the ITE Western District. Our three-day conference was held at the Sacramento State University campus in February 2015 and welcomed over 100 students and several dozen professionals from across the 13 western states in the district. We created a program that provided numerous opportunities to enhance professional skills and knowledge, network with transportation professionals, and gain valuable leadership experience. Behind the scenes, the team worked effortlessly to:- Create a unique and engaging schedule of activities- Write formal announcement and sponsorship letters- Thoughtfully hand-select and commit professional speakers on a variety of technical topics- Arrange food, lodging, and travel arrangements for attendees- Navigate the administrative system at the University to meet all standards for hosting such an event- Contact various vendors to acquire t-shirts, portfolios, and other promotional material for attendees- Prepare and solicit promotional advertising for the event to students and engineering companies throughout the 13 Western District states- Prepare budgeting, administrative, and activities' agendasConference committee members gained invaluable leadership, team-building, and management experience.

Projects:-Nevada County Roadway Safety Signing Audit: Utilized Rieker’s Curve Advisory Reporting System horizontal curve evaluations to perform analysis of critical roadway locations. Programmed macro-enabled functions to perform analysis of over 1,000 roadway signs based on sign and post conditions, retroreflectivity measurements, distance from Edge of Traveled Way, and sign size. Analysis criteria was based on the CA MUTCD. Assisted in the creation of GIS maps for report exhibits. Performed cost estimates. Edited final project report. -Laguna Creek Bike Trail and Taylor Road Improvements: Drafted roadway typical section drawings.-Oakland Airport Runway Safety Area Improvements Project: Created a pipe network for underground pipes. Modified existing drawings. Drafted details for drainage structures. -Modesto Airport Drainage Study: Performed condition assessment of existing storm drainage pipe network using CCTV observations. Assigned pipes ratings based on NASSCO PACP guidelines. Wrote the technical memo. Drafted over 15 CAD exhibits.-Sacramento Railyards: AutoCAD and spreadsheet analysis for use of data in Operations and Maintenance Budget Analysis calculations. -Amoruso Ranch: Research of pedestrian and bicyclist access at roundabouts in residential neighborhoods.-Fiddyment Ranch and Northgate Rite Aid/Home Good Shopping Center: CAD Civil 3D drawing edits and analysis.

As an assistant for the Project Management and Development Branch (PMDB), I worked closely with Project Directors in the management of construction and energy retrofit projects. I frequently prepared project manuals with details and specifications for projects going out to bid and created project schedules for these projects using Microsoft Project software. On a monthly basis, I utilized ORACLE’s Activity-Based Management System (ABMS) to prepare status reports of current projects for meetings with several key clients. In PMDB, I had the opportunity to work with AutoCAD by modifying working plans and preparing as-built drawings. I have processed change orders and RFIs, verified warranties provided by the Contractor as specified in the Project Manual, and assisted in final inspections for various civil engineering and construction projects. Working directly under the program manager, I managed the publication of the Aboveground and Underground Storage Tanks Program newsletter and SharePoint website. I also assisted engineers in other sections with researching preliminary site information for various proposed projects.
