Ventures.fm is a holding company for audio-first ventures. We're building technologies to redesign the podcasting experience, building a content network focused on higher education, and providing end-to-end podcast production services.

At the Haas School of Business, I launched the OneHaas student podcast to promote inter-program connectivity of the Haas MBA family; between every matriculated class of the Full-time, Evening/Weekend, and Executive MBA programs. With over 1500 MBA students on campus every year, there is more to the network than meets the eye. My aim is to introduce students to people they never knew they had in their Haas network. After successfully launching one automotive lighting company (XenonSupply), we launched a sister company selling interior LED lighting packages for cars. We foresaw a growing demand for accessorizing your vehicle with the growing popularity of LEDs. We identified a gap between consumer needs (complete packages, not individual bulbs) and existing businesses that sold bulbs individually. We then proceeded to research and compile a database of over 300 vehicles to create complete packages with all the products and tools needed to convert all the lighting in your vehicle to LEDs.

Founding partner of XenonSupply, an online automotive lighting accessories retailer. We specialize in producing how-to videos for showing people how to change the headlights on their car. We in-turn sell the products we demonstrate in the videos, and two complementary businesses have been built around this model.• Bootstrapped business to monthly revenues of $30K within first 18 months with 15% YoY growth, shipping to 30+ countries, and grew team from 2 to 10 team members by producing 200+ YouTube DIY videos for lighting products with 15+ million views, organically driving 85% of business • Negotiated product sourcing with Chinese and Taiwanese suppliers and recognized slippage in COGS by re-categorizing products as incomplete goods to lower air freight costs and importation taxes to maintain 65% gross margins• Established strategic partnerships by meeting with 100+ auto-shops and dealerships in US and Canada ranging from local car meets with 200+ attendees at Irwindale Speedway in East LA to 200K+ attendee tradeshows (SEMA, largest automotive convention in Las Vegas, and Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China)

CraveLab was a Collaborative/Coworking office space in Downtown LA, serving the budding local community of small businesses and small tech startups. I saw a growing need for such a community space in downtown LA before the co-working boom in LA. It was a great opportunity to be able to offer a 3500 sq. ft. space for the community to congregate and network. I designed the space to be conducive for collaboration by painting whiteboard walls on nearly every available wall space. You could not walk into the place without feeling like collaborating or sharing ideas with someone. We are currently in the process of finding and moving to a newer facility.• Negotiated $1/sq ft triple-net lease in downtown LA and structured lease contracts to allow for membership model over tenant sublease model to maximize profit margins (50%), reduce membership fees, and control membership quality• Self-taught interior design (reclaimed 1000+ ceiling tiles, incorporated lighting and whiteboard walls) and repurposed space (layout and furnishing) which attracted indie film makers and TV producers (TLC channel filmed “Totally T-Boz”)• Prospected, oversaw 50+ members including two media start-ups which expanded into entire space (LakersNation and Buzzsmith), and established legal and SaaS relationships such as Gunderson Dettmer, MaxCDN to support members• Community Leadership: Founded 600+ member Downtown LA Startups Meetup group, hosted weekly events that included topics such as Elevator Pitch, MVP Workshops, Brainstorming Sessions, streaming Lean Startup Conference and others.

Fickle Inc. DBA CraveLab is a holding company to fund a variety of mobile and web projects, and eCommerce.• Design and Branding: Led design team and two developers to provide design, branding, and web development services to CraveLab community and other businesses, such as food trucks, The Bun Truck, and restaurants, The Bun Shop.• Video Production and Editing: Led a 5-man film crew to produce new media content in-house for product videos, tutorials, and promotion for XenonSupply, and PrecisionLED, and provided external services to biotech start-up Hurel Corporation.

• Provided research for startup biotech firm engaged in microfluidic devices and cell cultures for pharmaceutical in vitro testing.• Prepared industry and comp analysis, financials, and CIM for prospective investors during second round of financing• Self-taught patent and trademark legalese working with Wilson Sonsini (WSGR) on half a dozen active filings• Prepared PowerPoint, financial data, and memorandums for prospective investor presentations.• Drafted contracts for research collaborations and internal corporate policies.• Reported on data regarding the industry, prospective clients, and supplier information for business development planning.• Managed office administration and general bookkeeping responsibilities.
