• As the Chief Integration Officer, I led efforts to advance healthcare by partnering with key healthcare stakeholders including independent primary care and specialty clinics, forward-thinking health plans, and progressive organizations to create and sustain dynamically-integrated health and wellbeing clinics within clinics to ultimately transform lives.• The Integrated Health and Wellness Clinics brought teams of behavioral health specialists into the primary care clinics, specialty clinics and employee onsite clinics to work in partnership with the medical team to improve how we identify patient's behavioral health needs, provide access to comprehensive assessments, brief psychotherapy, psychiatric care, and health and wellness "coach therapy" using the Living the Work™ framework (now Portages™ powered by Praestan) with patients to guide them through a process of successful change. IHWC Teams worked with patients with behavioral health conditions, chronic health conditions and also those individuals aspiring to improve their overall health and wellness.• As Executive Director of the PrairieCare Institute, I oversaw the design, development and administration of the education, training, research, community resources, innovations, and change management services. • Provided outpatient collaborative clinical care for children, adolescents and adults.

• Oversaw and directed the development of enterprise-wide behavioral health services; designed, developed, and implemented plan to fully integrate primary and behavioral health services across the entire Sanford Health system to drive population management, care delivery innovation, and management of total cost of care. • Led the Behavioral Health clinical, quality, and financial operations for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health, Adult Psychiatry and Adult Psychology Departments in the north region of the Sanford Health system. Expanded role in North Region to become Senior Vice President of Behavioral Health Services over all behavioral health and integrated care operations in December 2011. Served as Interim Chair of Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Department until new Chair was recruited in December 2012. • Received $12.1 million CMS Health Care Innovation Award in 2012 to achieve the Triple Aim by transforming primary care through fully integrated primary AND behavioral health care patient-centered medical homes to be implemented in 40 primary care clinics over three years. • Development of training programs for clinic workforce to acquire new foundational skills in Chronic Disease Management, Health Promotion, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Cultural Mindfulness, Patient Activation and leading change through Adaptive Leadership.• Led the design and implementation of technological advances allowing patients to engage EHR portal to improve their own level of activation in their own care • Directed year long advanced leadership development course for executives and physician leaders.• Represented Sanford’s World Clinics and assisted development through contacts and visits in the Middle

Appointed under Governor Pawlenty’s administration to serve as the Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Human Services over the Chemical and Mental Health Services Administration.• Oversaw policy development and regulation of the Adult Mental Health, Child Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Policy Divisions• Oversaw the State Operated Services which included psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse treatment programs, group residential and community treatment programs serving people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, chemical dependency and traumatic brain injury as well as people who pose a risk to society serving 11,000 adults and children annually at nearly 200 geographical sites throughout Minnesota.• Responsible for strategic planning and development, promotion and implementation of programs, organizational evaluation, establishing and achieving quality benchmarks, and providing leadership to the entire CMHS administration to assure continuous quality improvement, cost-effective state policies and quality health care delivery.• Supervised a 10 member Executive Team including the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the State’s public health mental health care system as well as the Administration-wide Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Policy and Legislative Officer and the Adult Mental Health, Children’s Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Policy Division Directors.• Served as the public spokesperson for the Administration responsible for engagement of numerous stakeholders including the legislature, consumers and families, advocates, health plans, and labor bargaining units and other state agency leaders and providers.• Provided numerous legislative testimonies• Directed oversight of 4300 employees and an annual budget of over $700 million.

• Oversaw the development and operations of inpatient, partial-hospitalization, outpatient speciality behavioral health, integrated primary care and outreach psychiatric programs and services for children and adolescents at St. Cloud Hospital / CentraCare Health System.• Opened a new inpatient adolescent mental health unit in 1999, adolescent partial hospitalization in 2000 and child and adolescent partial hospitalization in 2004.• Expanded and developed programs through successful recruitment of eight full time child psychiatrists and nurse practitioners.• Created and developed the widely recognized and award winning Clara’s House, one of the nation’s first intensive freestanding partial hospitalization facilities funded soley through philanthropy for children and adolescents with mental health and chemical dependency problems.• Worked with the CentraCare Health Foundation to raise over $4,000,000 for children’s mental health services.• Coauthored grant application with St. Cloud Schools leading to successful reciept of $8,000,000 Safe Schools Health Students grant to improve school safety and largely improve access to children’s mental health services.• Developed school-based mental health triage system, school-based mobile unit providing interesiciplanry team evaluations at school sites, and extensive children’s mentalhealth traning and education for school professionals in the community.• Developed community outreach and collaboration numerous community agenicies• Developed partnerships between mental health services and primary care and led integration of careinitiatives throughout the health system, including development of clinic-based mental health triagetherapist roles and mentalhealth screening in primary care clinics.• Developed numerous educational and training programs including desigining, developing andimplmenting the annual Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Practical Review for Primary Care and Mental Health professionals.
