Reanna Bourgeois Email and Phone Number
My name is Reanna Bourgeois, and I am a Northern Arizona University graduate with a bachelor's degree in Microbiology. During my undergraduate career, I was a research technician in Dr. Dave Wagner’s research group at the Pathogen and Microbiome Institute, under the guidance of Nathan Stone and Joseph Busch. My research focused on analyzing two Rhipicephalus tick species for mechanisms of resistance to pyrethroid insecticides, pathogen detection, and population genetic analyses. Pathogen detection of Rickettsia rickettsii includes the analysis of resistance mechanisms to pyrethroids in Rhipicephalus sanguineus ticks to assess disease prevalence and the effectiveness of tick prevention measures in Arizona. I also monitored cryptic movements of the cattle fever tick vector, Rhipicephalus microplus, in southern Texas using population genetic analyses and assessed the resistance status to pyrethroids in these ticks to inform tick eradication efforts. I recently worked at the University of Washington Virology Research Clinic as a Clinical Research Coordinator. In this position, I was responsible for participant recruitment, ensuring compliance with regulations under the Institutional Review Board and Good Clinical Practice, and developing/managing specimen transfer to off-site laboratories. I worked closely with principal investigators, clinicians, and our Research Manager to ensure compliance with study protocols.
