Responsibilities:• Supported the campus help-desk mission by troubleshooting and repairing: network equipment, communication equipment, computer workstations, network printers and various software suites. • Responsible for maintaining the campus dormitory computer network and troubleshooting students’ problems in a timely fashion.• Implemented equipment and configuration changes/updates to the campus dormitory network. Responsible for the campus dorm's network (currently over 600 computers plus network equipment). Key Contributions:• Migrated classroom, laboratory, and faculty computer workstations from Windows 2000 Pro to XP Professional operating system. • Assisted the campus network technician with designing and developing a secure wireless solution using PEAP authentication with Cisco Wireless Pods and a Windows 2003 Radius Server. Implemented secure wireless infrastructure using 802.1x authentications for campus-wide use. Testing wireless systems for security vulnerabilities.• Assisted the campus network technician with designing, configuring, and testing a product called Redwall Firewall an open-source product built off Redhat 8.0, that would be the following: a Router, IDS and IPS services, a Firewall, a Packetshaping device, a Proxy server, and a VPN server; that would also report network usage.• Researched and implemented automated Spyware removal software, campus-wide. Implemented Anti-virus solutions and Windows Remote Installation Service for computer deployment.• Researched and implemented Deep Freeze for the campus computer labs. This solution allowed students to make changes to the system and rolled back those changes after a reboot. This helped reduce the time spent maintaining and cleaning those systems.
