Mr. Islam was responsible for managing over $5.2 Billion in client capital ($40.0 Billion+ leveraged assets) across the risk return spectrum including managing the largest Municipal Arbitrage strategy in the market since 2002. Due to outstanding historical investment performance over the years and innovative investment strategies CFIA was able to attract over $5.2 Billion in client capital across multiple fixed income strategies from $50MM in capital in early 2002. Strategies included short-term funds, fixed income arbitrage, relative value, opportunistic and multi-strategy funds utilizing Municipal, Bank Loans, Preferred Securities, Corporate Bonds, Mortgage Backed Securities, and various hedging instruments. Key accomplishments included building a resourceful and highly qualified team of investment, product, and support professionals. Successfully integrated and executed various proprietary trading strategies for clients. Developed substantial experience working with institutional investors including financial institutions, and guarantors. Prior to the last global credit/liquidity crisis (2007-2008), CFIA products delivered superior investment performance across all products (Municipal Arbitrage net 12.61% annualized 2002Q1 to 2007Q2 and Multi-strategy net Lehman Aggregate + 2.3% annualized 2004Q4 to 2007Q2). Under the leadership the business received highest or most favorable ratings across employee satisfaction, audit and risk controls. CFIA also became the most innovative, profitable and the largest client business within Citigroup Alternative Investments.
