Being that I came from the restaurant industry previously, this more upscale restaurant was an easy transition.At first, I was in food sales, helping run an outdoor market. The Fish Hopper's location is on the bluff of Cannery Row in Monterey; which generates thousands of tourists, and locals, daily. There is many seafood restaurants in competition with each other, and the Fish Hopper is no stranger to it. Getting to be a part of the family that holds the running 'Best Clam Chowder' in Central California was also a selling point!Come the slower (and colder) season, the outdoor store limited its hours. In about a year, I graduated to more back of the house. To help out management, I became their assistant. I was responsible for 'cashing out' the servers, dividing monies, and preparing back deposits.I had the opportunity to integrate digital tracking of sales and such which also helped streamline accuracy and ease of operations.With having to move homes, I was sad to leave the restaurant, but I still return frequently to visit my once colleagues, and lifetime friends.
