Provide occupational therapy services to a disadvantaged pediatric population, in a rural community. Service sites include schools, homes, child-care facilities and the NFTS outpatient clinic. Strong treatment focus of educating teachers, caregivers and family regarding resources, behavioral approaches, and developmental skill-building.

Provided occupational therapy to a caseload of 30 children under supervision of a team of four OT/R and using a variety of treatment approaches including but not limited to NDT, Sensory Integration, Behavioral, PNF, Motor Learning, and Biomechanical. Administered and scored developmental assessments including the BOT2, Beery VMI and PDMS. Organized and facilitated Progressive’s entry in the Tallahassee Winter parade 2016 and 2017.

Fieldwork Level II: Treated pediatric populations including but not limited to the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, prematurity of birth, traumatic brain injury, learning disabilities, developmental delay, ADD/ADHD, arthrogryposis, CHARGE syndrome, speech and language delay. Presented case study on Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and HIPAA compliance and created ADL activity.

Fieldwork Level I: Worked in outpatient setting, treating rotator cuff injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, spinal cord injury, lymphodema and hand injuries under the direct supervision of an OT/R, CHT. Assisted supervising OT/R in evaluations by collecting data, providing patient education regarding anatomy and HEP, and by documenting progress daily. Utilized modalities (paraffin wax, ultrasound, ice massage, hot packs) and practiced techniques in myofascial release.

Provided case management, referrals, education, crisis intervention and support to area Veterans in a transitional living community, with major emphasis on substance recovery and employment. Performed daily and monthly monitoring of service plan goals, and progress notes utilizing the Profiler data system. Assisted with planning of fundraisers and promotions, including the 2010 Veterans Day Parade entry and fundraising events.

Provided intensive case management to displaced families. Worked with parents to create individualized family service plans enabling swift re-entry into independent housing. Screened families and provided appropriate outside referrals when needed. Identified available government benefits and assisted with application processes. Coordinated with volunteers to ensure wrap-around care for families.

Worked with an OT treatment team, carrying out treatment interventions to a variety of adults with diagnoses including but not limited to TKA, THA, CVA, TBI, SCI, amputation, dysphagia, and a wide variety of orthopedic/acute post surgical patients. Facilitated an upper extremity group, using treatment interventions OTR staff specified. Strengthening activities included AROM exercises, dowel rod, Theraband, free weights and balloon volley. Created a game encouraging memory and recall, used during balloon volley. Encouraged energy conservation and proper breathing techniques throughout session. Responsible for monitoring and re-ordering OT department supplies including but not limited to adaptive equipment, splinting materials, therapy equipment/devices, as well as office and cleaning supplies. Daily cleaning and organizing duties of all therapy equipment and supplies.
