I have modified this simulation activity to include local place conscious perspectives highlighting local Indigenous and non-Indigenous histories, relations and perspectives. Modifications include a pre-contact bartering simulation to illuminate pre-contact economic bartering systems. I also include Anishinaabe clan system activity to illuminate local pre-contact governing systems. This is a highly effective and interactive learning experience with proven results.
