This position required a new set of skills, and helped me to further existing skills such as:• Working with children• Practicing safety in the workplace regarding physical activities and injury prevention• Communicating with children and parents as well as my supervisor and team, developing stronger interpersonal skills• Developing new knowledge about the creative arts and performance/theatre industryThis position also required me to obtain a background check and clearance to qualify for work with children.

My first experience in a workplace, I started working when I was 12 years old developing an enthusiastic work ethic from a young age. This role helped me to understand the importance of professionalism and also develop personal skills such as smart money decisions.My roles included:• Opening and closing store• Handling cash and eftpos transactions as well as counting floats at beginning and end of workdays• Cleaning and general housekeeping to improve store appearance • Assisting customers with clothing and other products• Using technology and systems to process transactions, re-price products and order stock• Performing stock-takes, and putting new-stock onto shop floor
