Here's my tale of why I chose to be an accounting major.I grew up in Montana going to a private elementary school. Throughout my years there, teachers came and went quite regularly. One that stuck with me was my math teacher during 5th grade. Not because he was the best teacher in the world but because he tossed an Algebra 1 book at us and told us to learn. That year changed how I looked at math for the rest of my time in school. I left to go to a public middle school in 8th grade and didn't know what math level I was in. This probably would have caused someone to hate math or have a disdain for it, but I grew to love it. All through that one year and the four years of high school I thrived in my math classes and knew I wanted to do something with it in the future. So, my decision to be an accounting major can be traced back to that one teacher in 5th grade. However, I guess that one long-term sub in junior year cemented the idea that not everyone can be a teacher, and both simultaneously crossed it off my list and made me want to try and be a teacher since I practically taught the class that semester.
