Hello! My name is Rebecca Egan and I am a graduate from Austin Peay State University and earned a degree in Engineering Physics(ABET Accredited) with minors in chemistry and math. My graduation date is May 2024 and am ready to work right out of school! I have experience in customer service, quality control, and many other things from my jobs as a server, a federal student worker, and a quality control engineer intern. These three jobs have help me develop the necessary skill sets to tackle anything that may come my way. I have participated in several different activity throughout my educational career. In high school I participated in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition in 2018 and the project we did was to create a way for our high school to cool down since we didn’t have many AC units, it got hot. The project that was chose was an adjustable window shade that could either keep heat out and make the inside cool or have heat come in and heat the building. This made the top 10 in the nation in the competition and we had to present it in front of a panel of Samsung executives and leaders. We also were on GMA to learn who had won. A few other things that have been done is making a lab manual for a chemical instrument in one of my college courses. We have had to do different projects throughout my schooling such as, building circuits, making FMEA diagrams, coding in Fortran 95 for several different projects. Those are just some of the many things that I have done in the Engineering Physics degree at Austin Peay State University. I have also done a project on biodiesel and how to make a PI&D diagram of our current biodiesel reactor. I had to also learn the chemistry behind it and replicate the reactor in the chemistry lab. For this I had brought in used cooking oil from two places, red lobster and my own personal fryer. This was good experience in making biodiesel on a small scale. I also preformed some testing with the biodiesel to see how it would compare to some consumer grade biodiesel.
