MED25 is a non-profit providing rural African communities with quality, culturally appropriate, and affordable healthcare sustained through local income-generating businesses. The MED25 Model is an integrated collaborative approach with the local community, developing local leadership and local income generation based on community identified needs to support subsidized health projects. MED25 projects fuel the local economy, increasing patients’ ability to pay for clinic and income generating services. This model, which seems simple, is rarely done in grassroots organizations, and can help families break the cycle of poverty permanently. The MED25 Model ensures that every project has a long-term impact in the community it serves while decreasing reliance on foreign aid.As the Executive Director, I lead the strategic planning process and oversee all programs, fundraising, and administration, while ensuring financial stability of the organization. I manage all MED25 staff and volunteers and speak on behalf of the organization at various events throughout the year.

Working as a surgical nurse for outpatient procedures, providing pre-operative education and post-operative care to patients and their families

Taking care of the most critically ill patients at VM and Group Health. These complex patients are usually on ventilators, requiring vasoactive medications, and always require cardiac monitoring. Patient acuity requires one nurse for one to two patients.
