I am currently serving as the Executive Director of the National Child Abuse Coalition. I also support the Journey to Success campaign, a policy advocacy campaign to strengthen supports for transition age foster youth. And I facilitate two philanthropic networks: the Foster Care Workgroup within the Youth Transition Funders Group and the Child Welfare Funders Collaborative.

Managed projects with a policy emphasis, including on issues such as the intersection of substance use disorders and child welfare, trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), preventing child abuse and neglect, and issues affecting transition age youth, young parents, and girls and young women "at the margins." My work included the following: educating policymakers on key issues; tracking key policy developments of interest; translating complex policy concepts to people working at the state, local and ground levels; planning and facilitating meetings with experts and leaders in the field; supporting young people in their advocacy and professional growth; and supporting coalitions and affinity groups working towards a common cause.

Supported a range of projects across our portfolio, including supporting state-level children's advocates, building coalitions, analyzing federal, state and local legislative activity and implementation, supporting philanthropic networks, planning and facilitating meetings and events, and researching and writing reports. Also participated in numerous speaking engagements at regional and national conferences, including workshops and plenary speeches.

Supported projects including a data analysis and report of the impact of mandatory reporting of child abuse and neglect, and federal policy monitoring and analysis.

Worked closely with Pediatrician and Philadelphia Department of Human Services (DHS) Medical Director Dr. Cindy Christian to implement policies and procedures to improve the physical and mental health of children in the Philadelphia child welfare system.

Supported two large projects related to pregnant and parenting youth in foster care; researched and presented on assessment tools in child welfare investigations.

Provided in-home supportive and and prevention-focused case management to children and families at risk of entering the child welfare system. Worked extensively with teenagers providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-based approaches, and assisted the organization with program planning, data collection, and continuous quality improvement processes.

Legislative portfolio included a variety of domestic social issues related to supporting vulnerable populations, with a special focus on innovative approaches to reforming the child welfare system.

Supported the Congressman on an in-depth research and writing project on reforming the U.S. child welfare system.
