Q: Why do you care so much about better futures?R: It's hard for me to describe but deep in my guts I am completely committed to future generations. I can pinpoint the moment when this became clear. When I wrote ReGeneration, I wanted to dedicate the book to someone. And it hit me like lightning; I dedicated it to the great, great grandchildren of my godson--children I'll never meet. My vocation as a futurist is to work on their behalf, to help shape a future that our great, great grandchildren can be proud to inherit.Q: What does a professional futurist do?R: We help clients understand what's coming and how to shape the future they want.Q: Who are your clients?R: I work primarily in the public sector, for Chambers of Commerce, economic development agencies, and a handful of do-gooder companies.Q: What is Futurist Camp? It looks like fun!R: Futurist Camp is truly unique. Camp's three goals are: (1) to teach a crash course in foresight; (2) to build a community (futuring can be lonely work and weirdoes have to stick together!); and (3) to help people get back in touch with themselves. Camp, the woods, and water are good for Campers' souls.
