Over ten weeks the team will canoe, unsupported and entirely human-powered, 2000km along six rivers in search of unique wildlife, peaceful solitude and challenging adventure. Traversing two river basins, including a gruelling portage through dense bush and a 140km upstream scramble along the Rat river will take grit and determination. Luckily the team are united by a thirst for adventure. Our goal is to inspire a narrative of hope for the threatened wilderness of the Peel watershed through exploration; better revealing the unique and awe-inspiring landscapes and wildlife whilst, gaining rare and critical insights into expanding threats to the region. Just as the Unpeeled team were inspired by the challenge undertaken by the Paddle for the North team, we aim to similarly document and share our adventure for others to enjoy and draw upon. The Unpeeled team have diverse skill sets, including ecologists, healthcare professionals and wilderness specialists. As such we will be putting these skills to good use to record data of critical interest on our trip. Show less
