Dr. Smith has over 8 years of combined experience in biogeochemical climate change research and environmental consulting. She is passionate about climate issues, environmental justice, and effective science communication. Her graduate research focused on constraining dynamics of ocean and terrestrial climate systems through geological time. Before her Masters and Ph.D. work, Dr. Smith trained as a geologist, conducting rigorous geologic field work across the western U.S. She has extensive lab and field experience in organic and inorganic geochemistry, as well as software experience in R (for statistical analysis), GIS, and Ocean Data View. As an Environmental Project Scientist at Larry Walker Associates, Dr. Smith leverages her expertise in climate science, data analytics, and scientific writing to deliver comprehensive environmental consulting services to municipalities throughout California. She advises on climate and water quality regulatory issues, conducts data analysis in R and Excel, and develops grants and white papers tailored to meet client objectives.
