Education Coordinator
Current• Develops educational content, interactive hands-on workshops, inquiry-based gallery learning activities, and pre- and post-visit lesson plans and curricula for education programs in support of museum, state and national standards.• Develops materials and programming for and associated with Museum exhibitions including: production of exhibition content and components, curricula, auxiliary material, outreach lessons, school, family and public programming, etc.• Assists the Education Manager in sourcing and applying for local and national grants to support education programming.• Serves as the face of the Education Department during meetings with community leaders; visits to the Museum by community leaders, teachers, donors, etc.; and at local and national conferences.• Collaborates with colleagues at nearby museums to establish robust, cross-institutional programming that enhances learning at all locations.• Promotes and schedules education programs with schools, educators, and education contacts.• Facilitates inquiry-based tours and workshops and leads a volunteer team to teach and deliver engaging learning opportunities.• Designs and facilitates training sessions for staff and volunteers.• Conducts regular evaluations and assessments of ongoing education programs, preparing reports and making appropriate changes to improve results.• Maintains program attendance data, evaluation results, and Group Visit expenses/income.• Works with other departments to maintain and enhance education program logistics.• Collaborates with marketing staff to produce materials for the media, blog, publications and advertisements. Responsible for providing all pertinent information to museum marketing and public relations staff in order to assure the promotion of the exhibition- and installation-related educational activities and guides.• Supervises and coordinates volunteer Museum Educators, interns, and/or part-time staff.
