About Rebecca Carlson

My career journey has been anything but conventional. Instead of following a linear path, I have embraced multiple successful careers and am now venturing into my third. From Human Resources to Residential Real Estate and currently as a Career Advisor in Higher Education, I have been fortunate to explore diverse professions and industries. Some may consider me a risk-taker, as I even took a sabbatical during the peak of my real estate career to pursue a master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. However, throughout my journey, I have always trusted my instincts, followed my passions, and recognized the value each job added to my life. These experiences have shaped my skills and knowledge, ultimately leading me to my current role as a Career Advisor at Seattle University. I believe that my diverse background uniquely positions me to excel in this role.At the core of my career has always been a desire to advise, consult, and help people overcome challenges, achieve personal goals, and find creative solutions. Simply put, I thrive on working with others. Through my various experiences, I have developed a strong passion for assisting individuals in discovering their professional paths. I am particularly drawn to working with college students, as I am deeply committed to promoting access and equity in higher education. As a first-generation college student myself, I understand the transformative power of a college degree. When I'm not engaged in career discussions, I find joy in international travel, hiking, and strolling along West Seattle's Alki Beach with my German Shorthaired Pointer, Dakota.
