- Collaborate with three to five professional team members to plan extra-curricular and co-curricular events for students enrolled in the Honors Program consistent with program directives identified for each class year- Coordinate logistics, marketing, and purchasing related to events including: reserving space, placing catering orders, creating posters, writing and distributing targeted mail merges, and recruiting speakers - Serve as primary advisor for two student organizations, Honors Across State Borders (HASB) and the Civic Scholars Collective (CSC) and attend both executive and general member meetings - Write and distribute weekly Honors Programming Email and contribute content to Updates Soapbox digest- Supervise Honors Student Programming Assistants (SPAs) and desk staff workers, including delegating work tasks, budgeting student employment hours, hosting meetings, and participating in worker evaluations- Collaborate with various departments on campus, including other Enrichment Program offices (Office of Undergraduate Research, Office of Individualized Majors, Office of National Scholarships), Residential Life, Counseling and Mental Health Services, and Wellness & Prevention to provide well-realized program support to university students across class years and representing a variety of unique needs and diverse backgrounds- Support budgetary tracking through use of departmental sub-ledger and support distribution of departmental funds using Kuali Financial Systems - Support web content management through use of Wordpress and Qualtrics software

I produced a bi-weekly blog series highlighting materials of interest to the historical research community, and synthesizing archival research techniques, literary analysis, and creative writing. During my first semester, I wrote short-form analyses of historical diaries. During my second semester I curated an exhibit (“For Young Naturalists:” Ocean Ecology in Children’s Literature) drawing from the collection and both wrote and designed accompanying materials, including the exhibit poster and press release.

Over the course of four years, with most work completed during my junior and senior years, I conducted archival research under the tutelage of Dr. Matthew McKenzie, Dr. Christopher Clark, and Dr. Françoise Dussart on 19th century New London-based whaling and sealing at the sub-Antarctic islands of Heard, Kerguelen, and South Georgia for a combined Honors thesis and University Scholar project. This project received funding from the NCHC Portz Fellowship, University of Connecticut Summer Undergraduate Research Fund (SURF), and the University of Connecticut Honors Holster Grant. In July 2013 I traveled to Australia to conduct archival research at the State Library of Tasmania, Australian Antarctic Division Library (Hobart, Tasmania), National Library of Australia (Canberra, ACT), State Library of New South Wales (Sydney, New South Wales), and the State Library of Victoria (Melbourne, Victoria). I conducted additional research at the Mystic Seaport Museum (Mystic, CT) and the Smithsonian Archives in Washington, DC. In May 2014, I produced a sixty-page thesis entitled The Sea-Scavengers: Adapting New London's Nineteenth-Century Whale Fishery in its Final Years.
