About Rebecca Désir, Mph

Hi there!I’m Rebecca Desir, a passionate public health advocate and proud daughter of Haitian immigrants, hailing from sunny Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I currently serve as the Senior Manager of Community Advocacy at AdventHealth Central Florida Division, where I specialize in developing impactful strategies to engage marginalized communities and champion health equity. As the founder of the Black Health Commission (BHC), I lead efforts to foster community care, improve well-being, and honor resilience in the Black diaspora. One of our flagship initiatives, the BLK JOY Festival, gathers over 2,000 Central Floridians annually to celebrate joy, wellness, and health equity in Black communities. In addition to my professional work, I am deeply involved in the community, serving on boards such as the Center for Thriving Communities. My contributions have been recognized with accolades like Orlando Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, Black Health Connect's 40 under 40, and as a Central Floridian of the Year Finalist by the Orlando Sentinel. When I’m not working or volunteering, I’m a self-proclaimed bookworm, live music enthusiast, and enthusiastic game night host.
