Rebecca Ehemann has spearheaded award-winning public art projects that break the mold of the traditional notion of public art. She currently manages the Arts Division for the City of West Hollywood and is the former chair of the California Public Art Administrators (CAPAA) and Public Art Coalition of Southern California (PACSOCAL). Prior to joining the City of West Hollywood, Rebecca maintained a thriving public art consultancy, Green Public Art, that she founded in 2009 to advance the conversation of public art’s role in green building. She teamed with progressive public and private agencies, artists, architects and urban developers in the United States and abroad, to integrate public art into green building projects and provided conceptual programming, artist and material selection, and oversight of fabrication, installation and maintenance of artworks.She led the efforts for the Los Angeles County Art Commission’s first environmentally themed public artwork at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park and first temporary public artwork at the Norman S. Johnson Aquatic Center. Projects managed by Rebecca have been recognized by the Americans for the Arts Public Art Network (PAN) Year in Review three times, 2013, 2015 and 2017 as exemplary public art projects that represent the most compelling work for the year from across the country.
