Hello! My name is Rebecca Galvan, I am a fourth-year PharmD student at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy and a pharmacy intern at CVS Health. Before pharmacy school, I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Florida. During my time at the UF College of Pharmacy, I have focused my academic efforts on organizational involvement, research opportunities, and expanding my knowledge through managed care pharmacy experiences. As a PharmD Candidate, I have grown to find myself feeling extremely passionate about managed care and community pharmacy. In my time as a pharmacy intern at CVS Health, I have greatly enjoyed my time serving the greater Gainesville community. The patient interaction I've experienced in the community setting has been a great motivator and has allowed me to grow into a well-rounded pharmacy student.During the 2023-2024 academic year, I held the title of Vice President of Internal Affairs in the Gainesville Chapter of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP). Through this position, I had the opportunity to organize our yearly P&T competition where students created drug monographs and made formulary recommendations to present to a mock Pharmaceutical & Therapeutics committee. I greatly enjoyed my time here as I felt that this event gave our students the skills and confidence needed to analyze and effectively present a foundational element of managed care pharmacy practice.When I am not in Gainesville, I typically spend most of my time in my hometown of Key Largo, FL. I love using my spare time to pick up new hobbies and enjoy spending time outdoors. The most recent hobby I've been attempting to pick up is golf, which has been a great challenge with tons of milestones to track my progress in the sport. My passion for pursuing a career in pharmacy came from seeing my local community pharmacist become such an influential person in the community. I would describe myself as someone who loves serving patients and always strives to be the best patient advocate. My mission is to serve my patients to the best of my abilities, and I have been so blessed to have the opportunity to serve my community for the duration of my time at CVS Health. I am incredibly excited for my final year of pharmacy school where I will experience additional fields of pharmacy and learn as much as I can about how to be a successful pharmacist.
