During my months spent working with NCS I gained many transferrable life skills such as communication and teamwork as well as developing the skills to take control of difficult situations and to use my initiative. A typical day for me involved mentoring and supervising a group of 15 young people who I was responsible for throughout their 4 week programme. I was in a position of trust and care for these young people. I acted as a counsellor for the young people as well as giving them a supportive network.
