More recently, I have been the port of call for our user base, providing virtual training to customers informing them of our latest product releases as well as facilitating feedback in relation to our new and existing products to allow additional enhancement of our services. This has also been supported by the organisation of our User Day during June 2022.

I have also had the opportunity to learn and develop the product development aspects of the business by establishing a monthly sprint process using the Agile methodology to aid both small-scale and large-scale developments of EarthSense’s hardware and software. Within my role I have managed the development of the hardware and software elements, including supporting the development of a web portal and mobile application, ensuring that the monthly sprints are focussed upon customer requests and to the customers’ overall requirements.

Using QGIS software, I have provided analysis of environmental variables for a range of applications for Local Authorities and Health Providers, including the modelling of Particulate Matter from Wood Burning Stoves using approved methodologies to determine the exposure of the local community. The results of the analysis were presented in both reports and EarthSense’s web app platform (MyAir). Using QGIS, I have also supported the data manipulation and analysis of air pollutant data for Local Authorities to submit as part of their legal obligation to Defra, undertaking analysis within Excel spreadsheets, using R coding scripts and within GIS software. I have supported a number of project deliveries which included combining open-source data (including Ordnance Survey and census data) and MappAir model data to provide Answers as a Service. The assessment of pollutant concentrations was completed in isolation to determine trends, as well as part of correlation studies to determine the relationship between air pollutant exposure and population. With the addition of GIS software, I have also evaluated the effects of pollutant concentrations associated with the Coronavirus pandemic using a combination of near-real-time monitoring (using Zephyr technology) and modelled data to determine the change locally and nationally which was used within wider news media coverage.

Using ADMS, Aermod, CadnaA and ArcGIS, I have supported large and small projects including mixed-use developments around the UK. Undertaking a range of Acoustic and Air Quality assessments to support planning applications, through baseline monitoring and a range of detailed assessments.Developing and understanding the latest legislation and guidance to incorporate into the assessments - including Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM) Guidance, British Standards, ProPG and relevant local supplementary guidance.

Ensuring excellent customer service was essential. This was supported by receiving 100% on a mystery shop exercise. Informal and formal trainings were given to provide the best service. Cash handling on a daily basis which included cashing up at the end of the day. Completed company’s training about seasonal products.

Leicestershire, East Midlands

I completed a six month placement at JF Brown Surveys, Leicestershire as a shadowing surveyor. Here I assisted in a variety of tasks, from assisting with topographical surveys, to using GPS to set out for renewable developments. For example I aided the completion of a residential topographical survey which included the measuring of roads and environmental features. I also supported in the carrying out of stock piles surveys at quarry sites nationally. Having previously experienced using surveying methods at university, throughout my placement, I enhanced my skills of using surveying methods. This included the strengthening of my GPS and theodolite techniques. Additionally, I learnt how to use GPS hybrid technologies which allows the measurement of external features. Having collected the data, it was imported into a GIS software allowing the analysis of point and creation of maps for clients. Furthermore completed my own survey combining and reinforcing all the skills I had gained.
