My duties include: Preparing baked goods for sale to customers in a busy grocery shop.Producing breads, buns, pastries, tray bakes, cakes and other goods.Decorating baked products to achieve a finished appearance ready for sale.Ensuring the proper storage of baking utensils and ingredients.Some of the skills I am developing include:The flexibility to work around customer demand.Ability to read and follow recipes.Ability to work closely with other team members and follow instructions.Becoming detail oriented.

I gained experience working in the baby room which caters for children aged six months to two years and in the toddler room which caters for children aged two to four.I worked with children aged between four and twelve in the creche.I was a Montessori teacher to a class of thirteen three-year olds. My duties included:Supervising children within the creche and during outdoor playtime.Assisting the children in their activities throughout the day, including art and craft projects and educational work.Supervise children and assist them during meal times and snacks.I assist with hygiene including nappy changes and personal care of younger children in the creche. I also supervise children aged four to seven and carry out activities with them, including arts and crafts, educational games, and assisted play.My duties as Montessori teacher included:I had to develop lesson plans and create independent learning exercises that catered to the needs of each individual child.I observed, guided, and supervised the children while they were learning in my classroom.I created and maintained a safe and clean environment.I established and built relationships with the children and their parents.I monitored and accessed each child and kept up-to-date reports on the child’s development.

I worked for four years as a sales assistant and gained experience working in a deli.My duties included:Greeting customers who enter the shop.Assisting shoppers to find the goods and products they are looking for.Involvement in stock control and managementResponsible for processing cash and card payments.Balancing cash registers with receipts.Dealing with customer complaints.Some of the skills I required include:Having a friendly and engaging personality.Helpful and polite.Comfortable working with members of the public.Able to work as part of a team.Good time management skills.Perform all work in a confident manner.

I completed 14 weeks of practice placement as partial completion of my third year with the Brothers of Charity. My work included supporting adult service users with intellectual disabilities and bringing positive change to their lives.I became heavily involved in supporting service users with various challenges supporting them in a variety of settings. I completed work in their day service, respite care and residential care. I also gained experience in doing overnight stays in the respite house.I carried out an intervention, working independently with a service user with autism. The objective of the intervention was to prepare and support the service-user in commencing work in a local shop. This intervention was unique and based around the needs of the service user.

I completed 14 weeks of practice placement as part of the requirements of second year. I then chose to continue volunteering for an extra six weeks and worked for two weeks doing July Provision. My work consisted of working with a number of children (aged 4-8 years old) in a classroom setting. During my time here I supported the staff, which consisted of a teacher and two special needs assistants, and children with social opportunities such as horse riding, shopping and visits to three play centers on several occasions.On my placement, I supported the children and assisted the staff in enabling access to a variety learning and educational needs, allowing children to reach full potential and capabilities. I became very engaged and involved in supporting children in a multi sensory room and observed several play therapy sessions. I gained experience in working with both verbal and non verbal children with ASD and learned methods of dealing with challenging behaviour. I also accompanied two children in transitioning to mainstream classes in the school.
