We are now Epsilon Abacus. Epsilon is an all-encompassing global marketing company, a leader in creating connections between people and brands. While the name of our business has changed, the data co-operative that we drive on our members’ behalf will continue to be known as The Abacus Alliance. The Abacus Alliance comprises of over 500 retailers.

I am the Accountant for Abacus UK. Key tasks that I am resposible for include:1. Preparing annual financial statements2. Preparing monthly management reports3. Producing budgets and ensuring spending is kept in line with this4. Providing a support service by working with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisions5. Analysing.

This was my first experience of an accoutancy role. Here I was an assistant management accountant, reporting to the management accountant. I was responsible for the monthly preparation and entries to the ledger, gradually building on my role to take on tasks including the budget and VAT returns.

I took on this role as I was finishing University while I was choosing a career path. Here i was a customer advisor, eventually also taking on some business banking tasks as well
