About Rebecca Latourell

I am first off a Jack-of-all-trades and a master Googler. Give me an idea of what you're looking for and I'll find it for you...flexible foam hangers made in Taiwan...not a problem, I'll find you the manufacturer! My professional interest rests in the realm of Conservation. I work primarily in Preventive Conservation, with emphasis on Environmental Monitoring (Temperature, Relative Humidity, Dust, Vibration, Pollutants, Light...), Integrated Pest Management, and Preservation Housing. I also spend time working on numerous other projects, from basic treatments on a variety of materials (e.g. wood, metals, paper, ceramics), to Oddy Testing, to updating SDS sheets and completing chemical inventories, sourcing and keeping supplies in stock, arranging servicing of equipment, cleaning exhibits, et cetera, et cetera....all in a 7.5 hour day.My personal interests cover a wide range of museum jobs including collections management, registration and photography, and exhibit planning and execution. Outside of the museum world I also love to knit, crochet, read, cook, bake, and play the piano. Flexibility, multi-tasking, and knowing just enough, about a lot of things, are my keys to success. And, if I can't answer your question or name a source, you can be sure I can find the answer on Google!

Listed skills include Museum Collections, Museums, History, Curating, and 13 others.

Based on a research project I had completed during my internship I also implemented a colour measurement project. I took preliminary colorimetric measurements on a variety of prints, that were to be sent out on a travelling exhibit. These measurements have since been repeated to determine the amount of light damage incurred. A comparison to the microfading technique was also carried out and a poster on the topic was presented at the 2016 AIC/CAC Conference.
