Because all families are different, I utilize two evidence-based parenting interventions with families: Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) and Circle of Security. Both of these curriculums have decade’s worth of research and have been implemented worldwide. The following is an illustration of my work with a single mom: From aggressive to happy!“It was just starting to get really difficult; he was about three and there was constant power struggles between my son and I. I couldn’t get him to listen to me when we went out, he wouldn’t pick up his toys, and he wouldn’t eat dinner with us at the table. I didn’t know what to do! I needed something that could help me. He kept hitting me and even little girls at school. He was so mean and aggressive, I think he wanted attention, but it was becoming a really big issue.I was anxious all the time and started thinking: what if this is who he becomes? What if this becomes part of his personality? Like being so aggressive - I didn’t want my son to grow up to be like someone who hits people!(I started Triple P) and right away he started changing. The dynamics in our family became more positive, I had more energy and was happier. Instead of me telling him ‘Don’t do that’ it was more like ‘Good job, I like how you’re staying with me’. I could tell it made made him more happy and I was more relaxed.Now I feel more confident in my parenting because I know that this stuff works.” -
