About Rebecca Thompson
Rebecca Thompson is a Clarity Coach and Founder of the Live In Your Light Bootcamp, a transformative 3-month personal and professional executive coaching experience for high-achieving Black womxn who want the clarity and confidence to transform their lives from the inside out, monetize their magic, and live in their light. She is also an award-winning Democratic political consultant and one of the leading experts and voices in the country on womxn of color in politics. She has traveled the world training candidates, especially Black womxn, to run for elected office. Rebecca also works with numerous local, statewide, and national progressive, non-profits, and labor unions focusing on leadership development, campaign strategy, and online-to-offline engagement. Rebecca's political journey began at just 14 years old as an intern for a womxn elected official in her hometown of Detroit. Fifteen years later, she ran for State Representative, narrowly missing victory by just 6 votes on Election Day. This experience fueled her mission: to ensure Black womxn can run and win the first time. She has held prominent roles, including Vice President at Deliver Strategies, one of the top progressive direct mail firms, and RUN to WIN Director for EMILY’s List, leading the organization's largest candidate recruitment and training program. Her leadership extends to positions at Good Jobs Now (currently Detroit Action), United Way for Southeastern Michigan, People for the American Way Foundation, the Executive Office of the Mayor of Washington, DC, and the United States Student Association (USSA).Rebecca is a graduate of the Women’s Campaign School at Yale, EMILY’S List, VoteRunLead and numerous other leadership programs. She served on the faculty for the Congressional Black Caucus Institute and has been a trainer for ElectHer, New American Leaders, the Front Line Leaders Academy, and others. Her insights have been featured in the Washington Post, New York Times, and Essence Magazine, and she was honored as one of the American Association of Political Consultants’ Top 40 Under 40 in 2018. - Developed annual budget (joint $2.1 million program in conjunction with the Young Elected Officials Network), assisted in establishing and raising revenue goals, developing proposals and reports to donors, and managing relationships with key donors and foundations. - Managed full-time staff of 5 (including 2 direct reports) and oversaw the planning, logistics and execution of annual YP4 National Summit and 8 regional trainings across the country each year. - Lead the design and implementation of leadership development programs including the YP4 Fellowship; a year-long fellowship for 150 college students on over 100 campuses in 29 states and the Front Line Leaders Academy (FLLA); an 8 month intensive training program for 20 Fellows across the country that trained them to become candidates for elected office and campaign professionals. Also provided support to the Young Elected Officials Network, which consisted of 700+ young electeds in all 50 states at every level of government under the age of 35.
