Responsibilities include: • Project managing a series of educational events for students across the year that have no experience in privately renting to support their move off-campus. • The delivery of a comprehensive advice service, accessible to 18,000 students at Sussex via email, telephone and face-to-face appointments around all aspects of renting housing in the private sector. • Acting as the first point of contact for members of the local community to feedback to the University about student behavior in their area and enacting all steps of the University community complaints process accurately and efficiently. • Stakeholder engagement with local councilors and community figures around student housing within Brighton and Hove. • Development and operational management of two community engagement schemes, representing a significant investment by the University in community relations. One scheme consisting of the employment of students to visit private sector houses to deliver peer to peer advice. The second scheme being an award winning Community Street Marshalling service to support students and members of the local community moving around the city at night. As well as project management, responsible for accurate recording of all feedback received on schemes and writing regular reports to advisory board around their success. • Managing the operation of Sussex Student Pad, a website for the advertisement of around 100 properties per year to rent to students by local landlords. Ensuring all properties meet legislative requirements for rental and are in line with the University’s own code of standards. Managing the marketing of the service to landlords, enquiries from landlords and students, and the administration of the service and the handling of disputes around the service.
